Philippines Mission:Week 71--LAST LETTER HOME! "Sister Huxtable and I bought him a cake and he

Maayong udto! Oh wow.. Time has really flown by! Last letter home . . . Enjoy!

August 8th, Monday, Sister Huxtable and I visited Sister Brina and Anna Liston and taught them both about tithing and fasting. They've both had trouble paying their tithing every time they receive their income, and so we just wanted to remind them. Afterwards we played some volleyball! And once again, Sister Huxtable and I totally killed it.

August 9th, Tuesday, After our district meeting, we visited Sister Rocelie and taught her about baptism. Even though she can't be baptized right now, we wanted to remind her of the importance of baptism and how she needs to prepare now as if she will be baptized. After sharing with her, we told her to go and get her sister-in-law, Sister Lucille, so we could share with her. Sister Lucille is investigating the Iglesia Ni Cristo church and so we're trying to get her to listen in on the messages that we have for her to actually learn the truth. Towards the end of the night, we went and visited the Deladia family, and we got to meet another one of Sister Deladia's sons! All of her kids were home except one, Ryan, who was in Mindanao visiting his aunt. He finally came home and we shared with him about prayer. We're trying to help him get active again so he can go on a mission. He's only 23 and still has time!

August 10th, Wednesday, we visited Sister Mangubat and taught her about where we come from and our purpose on earth and about the Plan of Salvation. As in, she's so smart! She just took it all in and loved every piece of doctrine we shared with her. I love it! I will never get over the feelings that I get when I teach someone the truth and their eyes just open because they finally understand. It's the best! We then visited our other investigator, Brother Junior and over-viewed with him about the Restoration. We then gave him a baptismal date, and he accepted it! We scheduled it for August 20th, but then we felt like he wouldn't be ready in time, so we moved it back to August 27th, which is a total bummer because I just barely miss it! But I'm still really happy that he's ready to be baptized!

August 11th, Thursday, Sister Huxtable and I visited the Pocong family. We taught Sister Renalyn about obedience. Sister Renalyn is SO smart and understands everything quickly, but she kind of has the same problem as her boyfriend, Brother Juwarsi Pocong. She has the problem of not acting on what she knows. Their family could be baptized and preparing for the temple right now if they would just act on what they've learned. We then turned around and taught Brother ArAr and Brother Arnie Pocong. They've been having trouble being obedient as well so we shared a little bit with them about showing our obedience to God. Our last appointment for the day was with Brother Junior, and we taught him about the Book of Mormon! He was pretty excited to learn more and he's REALLY excited about his baptism. He's mentioned how excited he is to us quite a few times. I'm so happy for him! Sister Huxtable and I jump off the walls every time we talk about how well Brother Junior is progressing.

August 12th, Friday, Sister Huxtable and I were too busy for our weekly planning, so we moved it to Saturday and instead visited Sister Mangubat. Oh man. This was SUCH a spiritually draining lesson. It was so good! We finished the Plan of Salvation with her. We taught her about the spirit world, and the 3 kingdoms of God. She was amazing! She took out a notebook and took notes, and every time we revealed a new piece of doctrine to her that she had no idea existed, she got SO excited! I love it; I love her. She was definitely prepared by God. Our last appointment was Brother Juwarsi Pocong's birthday party! It was so fun! Filipinos are so poor so their parties are really chill. You just show up, eat and talk. Sister Huxtable and I bought him a cake and he was SO excited! He's 25 years old now, and his entire life, he's never had cake for his birthday. Isn't that the saddest thing ever? And there are some kids in America that cry because they only get cake and no ice cream. It's just amazing to see how happy these people really are with how little they really have. I will miss them like crazy!

August 13th, Saturday, after our weekly planning session, we visited Sister Anjie and shared with her about service. I feel so bad because we weren't able to visit her earlier in the week, and she really missed us. She kept waiting for us to come by and visit but we've been too busy. She was SO happy when we finally came and visited. Sister Anjie is such an amazing convert. She's so smart and loves to learn! We then visited Brother Juwarsi Pocong, and taught him about obedience as well. The whole family has kind of struggled with obedience so we've had to share it with them to remind them of the blessings that they can receive from being obedient.

August 14th, Sunday, today was my 2nd to last Sunday here on the mission. So close! After church, we taught Brother Junior about where we come from. He was really receptive and understood a lot. He has trouble reading because his eyes have gotten bad, but he tried so hard to read his assignment about Adam and Eve. We committed him to prepare for his baptism and he is SO ready. As in! He is excited! We visited the Pocong family again, and we taught Brother Juwarsi and Sister Renalyn. We kind of did an over view of the Plan of Salvation because we wanted to remind them about the Celestial Kingdom and who gets to go there. We also mentioned preiesthood and he got really excited about being able to receive the priesthood to bless his family members.

"The Lord will magnify your works and make them mighty."

I love you all! Amping mo! See you all soon!

Love,

Sister Johnson
